Someone comes along and shows you a brand new way
For yet another Tangled screening, I put flowers in my hair again. No flowy princess blouse or any Flynn Rider satchel this time, but I did put my hair in braids.
I’ve forever loved braids, but…the reality is: braids and my hair don’t mix. No matter how I tug or keep my hands steady, my hair slips out of the braids. And even if I do manage to braid my hair, the tie always slides off too early for my liking. *sigh*
BUT I wanted to try braids today, so with the help of water and hair cuticle wax and pins and pins and pins (and my pretty flowers!) VIOLA! Yey braids!
I found a Rapunzel braid tutorial video the other week, and though my hair wasn’t even close to long enough for the whole thing, I at least got the Dutch lace braid down. Haha! (I finished the microbraids, too, but the English braid kept unravelling. So no English braids, and I just let the little guys get lost in the ponytail. Awww~

I’ll put a flower in your hair
For the Tangled premier, it’s only right that I use one of my satchels (in honor of Flynn) and put flowers in my hair (in honor of Rapunzel).
To be completely honest, if I had a Rapunzel-ish dress—or a Flynn-esque vest, for that matter—I would’ve worn it, but I had to settle for this sort-of-flowy blouse with the princessy-design on the front. I could actually fit a frying pan in my satchel, but decided against it. Haha!
Pink top from People are People. Jag jeans. Bag from…Sara, I believe. Sandals from Circle C. Bracelet from…somewhere.

But I still have one more question on my mind

This yellow blouse was a Christmas gift from Sara last year. She made the yellow and white flowers
I’ll be honest here: I’ve never worn it.
See it was so cute…too cute. Haha! At the time, I wasn’t sure if I could pull off “cute” nicely.
“It’s too cold for it, anyway,” I had said.
Summer of 2010 came around, and I still didn’t wear it. I wanted to wear it, I really did, but, again, it was too cute, too girly. And I didn’t know what to wear with it. Or so I said.
Now, it’s almost the cold season again, and I still haven’t worn it. But LOOK! I know what to wear with it now! Ahahaha! I found my white headband hidden in my drawer. These are too tight for me; I get headaches if I wear it for too long. So I’m going to buy me another one that fits me properly. And then I’m finally going to wear this cutie blouse.
Question: do you think I can pull off cute?
I didn’t bother putting on make-up lol. But it kinda matches the whole… light, fluffy feel of the photo, yes? No? *ahem* Never mind.

sooner or later you’re gonna be the last thing on my mind
Sooner or later
I’ll be free to leave the past behind

This be my prom dress from my high school senior year. For both of my proms, I was part of the Cotillion dancers, so we were required to wear pink (for the juniors) and blue (for the seniors). But I think I still would have worn blue, even if I had the choice to wear another color. Haha!
I wanted a simple, rather conservative gown—I think you guys already know that I don’t like exposing…skin—and, as mentioned, I was required to wear blue, so we had this made. It had sequins lining the neckline and around the waist area. A couple of layers of chiffon underneath the skirt. And the outer material was tule, I believe… And it was so…flowy. I loved it.
I so SO love this dress that until now I still have trouble letting it go. I’ve had it in my closet for years now, and I’ve even lent it out to one or two younger cousins. It still fits me, oddly enough, but, to be honest, I don’t think I’ll be wearing this again. Some friends have suggested that I have it reconstructed into a more current dress. Some have told me to donate it.
I honestly don’t know what to do with it, because I still love it the way it is now.
Told you I had trouble letting go.
About the photo
Photography by Veejay Jimenez. Yup, this is one of the photos out of my shoot.
Sarah means “princess”, and the gown is rather princessly, so it only made sense to be a princess in this photo. A rather bored princess who doesn’t want to go to the ball. And refuses to wear heels and wants to wear her Chucks, instead.
waiting for my rocket to come

So in an attempt to reuse my old clothes, I pulled out my straight jeans from the late 90s. Yes. The 90s. I take care of my clothes, thank you very much.
I read somewhere recently that boyfriend jeans are so last year, but pardon me who isn’t following the cutting edge of fashion trends. I only heard the term recently, and I’ve never tried wearing them. So here I am, trying it on for size.
For those who, like me, aren’t very familiar with the trend: wearing boyfriend jeans is wearing oversized or straight denim jeans that look like they’re your boyfriend’s. Boyfriend jeans are supposed to be worn with very girly stuff (like tight-fitting tops, boots or strappy sandals), and the ankles are recommended to be shown as more proof of girliness.
I’m not sure if I pulled it off. I think I need to wear a different pair of shoes. Or maybe I need more accessories? Or an even girlier top? I’m not entirely proud of this outfit, but I don’t think I looked completely horrid. Hm. Must improve this look.

1920′s-inspired Lavender feather clip from Tin’s debut. Also, my mom’s mother of pearl necklace with a white gold chain. And my purple dress.
At the debut, we were all required to wear this feathery headdress they gave out at the door. But I didn’t know beforehand, so my hair wasn’t exactly…prepped for it. I think I spent 15 minutes in the ladies’ room trying to clip this on my hair properly! I think I kind of pulled it off, though. Kind of.
I wasn’t planning on featuring this separately (and, come on, my hair is seriously a MESS that night!) but I realized that you can’t really see the headdress in my red carpet photo.
About the photo
Taken by Chique. Today I’m wearing a blouse I already blogged about, and I’m being lazy and I don’t want to dig in my accessories for something else to shoot, so I’m falling back on old shots. Haha!
