-”Campus”, Vampire Weekend

Since what I’ve been working on for more than a month now has to do with youth and students and high school and college and students and teachers and campuses… Here’s me wearing a school-ish outfit.

Sort of.

Depends on where you’re from.

*ahem*

YEY COOL WEATHER SO I CAN DO LAYERING! Heeheehee.

White striped blouse, found and owned from my mom’s closet. Black shirt, Giordano. Knapsack, Kipling, from 15 years ago (no exaggeration). Jeans from Jag. Still-being-broken-in ankle boots from Bass. Watch from Tomato. Bracelets I made in college. Glasses. And, student-mode-me in true form: zero make-up.

I almost wore my Chucks with this outfit, but, like I said, I’m still trying to break in my boots.

This was at noon. Harsh lighting+glass window+red tiles = dramatic lighting. <3

I’ll put a flower in your hair

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 | accessories, apparel, bags, blouses, hair accessories, jeans, sandals | 4 Comments

I'll put a flower in your hairFor the Tangled premier, it’s only right that I use one of my satchels (in honor of Flynn) and put flowers in my hair (in honor of Rapunzel).

To be completely honest, if I had a Rapunzel-ish dress—or a Flynn-esque vest, for that matter—I would’ve worn it, but I had to settle for this sort-of-flowy blouse with the princessy-design on the front. I could actually fit a frying pan in my satchel, but decided against it. Haha!

Pink top from People are People. Jag jeans. Bag from…Sara, I believe. Sandals from Circle C. Bracelet from…somewhere.

We drew our own constellations

We drew our own constellations

I spent two days—count ‘em, TWO DAYS—to come up with this outfit. Mainly because of these two pieces:

Trilby from Lucban, P75. I’ve always wanted a fedora, and when I saw this during the Pahiyas festival, I bought it at once. I didn’t notice that it’s a tad too small for me. I haven’t worn it since, and I was thinking of sell it (or giving it away) and buy another one. But I ended up deciding to keep it. It’s been in my closet for half a year, patiently waiting for me to put it on my head.

Leather ankle boots from Bass, a gift from a friend. I was a bit hesitant about these boots. I mean, as many of you know, I LOVE boots, but…ankle boots? I wasn’t quite sure. I didn’t know if I had the jeans to wear them with (my other jeans keep bunching up around it), and I didn’t know if I had any other outfits to go with them. Ah, but I tried them, anyway.

So I had two things I definitely wanted to use—actually, I NEEDED to use them if I was to convince myself that they had a place in my wardrobe.

After many trial combinations and variations and mix and matching, I finally threw them together with my a graphic shirt from Circle C, a robot necklace from my brother (which you cannot see in this photo), my favorite unbranded jeans from Circle C, and my favorite satchel from Metrobank.

And, whaddya know? I think this combination might actually be working. Yeah?

I get the news I need on the weather report

Monday, November 15th, 2010 | apparel, blouses, dresses | 1 Comment

I get the news I need on the weather reportI can’t remember where I got this. But I do know that I have never—and I mean NEVER—worn this before. I’ve tried it, sure, but I always take one look in the mirror and then decide to wear something else. :( I think it’ll work better with a body type—or fashion style—a bit different from mine. It looks okay, I think, but it just never seems to work for me.

I love it, though. The material feels really nice, and it feels nice and cool when I wear it. The design has little ladies with umbrellas, cute silver dots, and STARS! I bought it because of the stars. Hehe. It’s long enough to be a skirt for girls who aren’t as tall as me, or you can wear leggings with it. You can also wear one of those thick belts with it!

I haven’t worn it, and the material is still good and not flimsy at all, but, yes, I’ll be selling this in my garage sale. :)

But I still have one more question on my mind

Monday, October 11th, 2010 | apparel, blouses, hair accessories | 5 Comments

But I still have one question in my mind
This yellow blouse was a Christmas gift from Sara last year. She made the yellow and white flowers :D

I’ll be honest here: I’ve never worn it. :( See it was so cute…too cute. Haha! At the time, I wasn’t sure if I could pull off “cute” nicely.

“It’s too cold for it, anyway,” I had said.

Summer of 2010 came around, and I still didn’t wear it. I wanted to wear it, I really did, but, again, it was too cute, too girly. And I didn’t know what to wear with it. Or so I said.

Now, it’s almost the cold season again, and I still haven’t worn it. But LOOK! I know what to wear with it now! Ahahaha! I found my white headband hidden in my drawer. These are too tight for me; I get headaches if I wear it for too long. So I’m going to buy me another one that fits me properly. And then I’m finally going to wear this cutie blouse.

Question: do you think I can pull off cute?

I didn’t bother putting on make-up lol. But it kinda matches the whole… light, fluffy feel of the photo, yes? No? *ahem* Never mind.

everybody’s got the love but they keep it inside

everybody's got the love but they keep it insideRed blouse, Shaw Blvd. MRT Station, P150. I got it from the same place I got this red blouse.

I like this blouse, but I think this is only the second time I’ve worn this since I bought it on February or March. Maybe it’s because it’s too striking red? Or maybe because a couple of months ago I couldn’t wear this if I was feeling bloated. (This was after lunch. So…yey for my sort of well-balanced diet?)

I was kind of expecting my dad or one of my brothers to be all strict about it being…body-hugging… but they actualy liked it. Haha!

I should start wearing this more often.

By the way: that necklace and bracelet combo is from my mom.

About the photo
I haven’t taken a photo of myself in a while (obviously, since I haven’t been updating this blog much)…and I think it shows. Boo. But, anyway. I missed putting white spaces in my photos. So there you have my wall. And the lone, surviving star decal thingy. Wheeee~

See, dreams really do come true

See, dreams really do come trueWhen the Legally Blonde: The Musical began its ran in 2007, I have been so in love with it. I had practically the whole selection in my head, and I can sing along to the soundtrack. I’ve never had the chance to actually watch it live, though. (MTV’s broadcast doesn’t really count as live, of course.)

Until a friend told me on the 24th of June 2010 that he had an extra ticket to the Hot Pink Preview…which was on 24th of June 2010. I almost jumped and screamed in my desk in my office, but I (barely) managed to stifle my excited shriek.

Of course, wearing Elle’s signature color was a must! I had my housemate prepare my pinkest, Elle-est blouse, this one I got as a hand-me-down from I-don’t-even-remember-where-anymore. (It doesn’t look so hot pink here, though, because of the yellow light.) Also, I borrowed Karess’ pink bag. I would’ve worn pink shoes if I had them, but I had to content myself with these denim flats, also borrowed from Karess.

Yep. Some of the best outfits come from other people’s closets. Haha!

When I found out over a year ago that Atlantis Productions was bringing Legally Blonde: The Musical to Manila, I freaked. In a good way, at first, because I was FINALLY going to be able to watch it. And then there was a doubtful pause as I realized that we didn’t have blondes in the Philippines, which means that a wig was going to be used, which means that it was going to be horrible. (I never doubted Filipino talent for a second, but, come ON. ELLE IS A BLONDE.)

I bought a ticket, anyway… And then, as mentioned above, I got a ticket to the preview.

And let me say this: obviously fake blonde wig aside, Legally Blonde: The Musical Manila was AWESOME. I already knew the show inside and out, but they still managed to make me laugh at the jokes I already knew. Very, very nicely done!

I still have the ticket I originally bought. Am I still going to use it and watch the show for the second time? Oh, most definitely. It was that good.

I’m still an arrow unshot

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010 | accessories, apparel, blouses, heels, jeans, necklaces, shoes, skinnies | 1 Comment

I'm still an arrow unshot…fixed in a bow, I’m still, I’m still
- “Still”, Great Lake Swimmers

Off-shoulder blouse, Shaw MRT Station. Jag jeans. Nine West sandals, borrowed from Karess.  Moon guitar necklace, Circle C.

I have never worn this blouse before this shoot. It’s not exactly office material, and for some reason the time to wear it hasn’t come yet. Until this shoot.

Now that I know how it looks on me—you have to admit, sometimes looking in the mirror isn’t the same thing—I can’t wait to really use it in real life.

On a side note: I almost took a line from Electric Avenue for the title of this post. Something about hanging laundry. Or maybe that “rock it in the daytime, rock it in the night” coda.

oh yeah, I’m looking at the sun

Monday, April 12th, 2010 | accessories, apparel, bags, blouses, bracelets, eyewear, jeans, tank top | 2 Comments

oh yeah I'm looking at the sunShades, Punya. Blue blouseDEI. Lace tank. Jeans,  Jag. Brown leather bag, Celine. Necklace and bracelet from my mom’s dresser.

It’s looking to be an extremely hot summer, but thank goodness for the human invention called the sunglasses.

The other day I was at People are People looking at sunglasses and fell in love with a pair. It was rather pricey, though, so I put it down and decided to buy it next time (if it was still there). About an hour later as I was browsing the new stuff at Punya, I saw an almost identical pair… except the hue was blue instead of black, and it was half the price.

That’s the best “except” I’ve written in a while, yes? Yes! It fits nicely on my nosebridge, and my eyelashes don’t reach it.  Oh, thank God! That’s always been my problem with shades and glasses. The one down side of having long eyelashes :(

Needless to say, I bought the shades. It costs P150, in case anybody’s wondering.

The atmosphere is crawling with airlines

The atmosphere is crawling with airlinesthat wind through the clouds and look down on the crowds.
-”Air Traffic”, Owl City

Green striped drop-waist top. Leggings. Sandals. Wooden beads necklace. Wooden heart necklace. Leather bag.

Okay, that green tunic has got to be one of my favorite summer clothes. It feels cool when I wear it! The leggings, too. Black, they may be, but I can still feel the wind on my legs.

It was really hot this day, but thanks to my outfit and the cozy wind blowing through High Street, I barely felt the sun at all.

Note the water fountain behind me. And note that I put on sunblock since I expected to walk under the sun for about an hour. And, for some reason there was sand in the grass we were walking on… All I needed was the smell of salty seawater, and I could successfully convince myself that I was on the beach. Haha!
